Course Description: Exterior Wall Quality Assurance- Course Summary :This course is intended for professionals observing exterior wall systems, including quality assurance observers, field inspectors, manufacturers, and general contractors. The scope of topics includes the construction of exterior walls, including back-up wall construction, air barriers, vapor retarders, water-resistive barriers, flashing, insulation, concrete, masonry, stucco, EIFS, metal panels, terracotta, and sealant. Participants will gain an understanding of the process for documenting whether exterior wall systems are installed in accordance with construction documents.
Learning Objectives: Identify applicable codes and standards for exterior wall construction projects.- Analyze various types of exterior walls and the attributes of each.- Explain the activities and responsibilities of the observer during the construction administration phase.- Describe installation methods consistent with major wall system types.
Course Description: This combined quality assurance training provides an in-depth overview of best practices for observing and verifying rooftop and exterior wall installations. The program focuses on understanding major roof and wall system assemblies, the roles and responsibilities of quality assurance professionals, and techniques for documenting compliance with construction documents and owner requirements. Attendees will gain practical insight into common installation challenges, system interfaces, and performance risks, along with strategies to identify deficiencies early and support durable, high-performing building enclosure systems.
